Kids apron

I've made a resolution for this year. Most of the presents that I will give during 2011 will be handmade. I say "most of" because I already know there will be cases when this will not be possible. Sometimes you get the invitations to birthday's parties from your kids' classmates just a few days before the event, so I do not want to stress myself more than needed. I prefer to be realistic.
Anyway, I have started acting according to my resolution. My daughter was invited to her best friend's birthday so it was the perfect occasion to work on a handmade present. I had several options in mind and finally I decided to make an apron. I know they bake cakes quite often at home so it will be something that she will use… I hope!

I made it last weekend but I could not show it till now to avoid ruining the surprise effect. You never know… So here it is, a red apron, with striped pocket and coordinated binding. I also embroidered her name on it so that it is a personalized apron. Nice! My kids already asked me to make one for them as well, they even chose the color already. That is a very good indication, isn't it?

Para este año me he fijado el propósito de hacer yo misma la mayoría de los regalos que tenga que dar durante el 2011. Digo "la mayoría" porque ya sé de antemano que en algunas ocasiones me va a resultar imposible. A veces recibes invitaciones a cumpleaños, sobre todo de los compañeros de clase de los peques, solamente con un par de días de antelación. Así que tampoco quiero estresarme más de lo necesario. Hay que ser realista ante todo.
En cualquier caso, he empezado con buen pie. Mi hija tenía el cumpleaños de su mejor amiga este Sábado pasado, así que era la ocasión ideal para hacer un regalo handmade. Tenía varias ideas pero al final me decanté por hacer un delantal. Sé que hacen postres a menudo en casa, con lo que podrá darle bastante uso… espero!
Lo hize el fin de semana anterior pero no quería enseñarlo hasta después del cumple para no fastidiar el factor sorpresa. Nunca sabes… Hice unas fotos para la posteridad y aquí está, un delantal rojo, con bolsillo en rayas de colores y bies a juego. También bordé el nombre para que fuese un delantal personalizado. Me encanta! Mis hijos ya me han pedido uno para cada uno de ellos, e incluso han elegido el color que quieren. Y esa es una muy buena señal, o no?
