Ocean quilt

Last summer I was invited to a friend's wedding. I like to give personalized presents, something specifically made for and thinking on that person. I thought that a quilt could be a good idea. Considering that blue was my friend's favorite color I designed this quilt, called Ocean quilt, you may guess why.
I used Robert Kaufman's Kona Cotton solids, combining several ranges of blue, creating vertical lines of different widths.
The back is dark blue with an horizontal line, mixing different grades of blue. I quilted every vertical piece individually, in straight lines, starting from the right side to the center and, then, from the left side to the center. That creates centered spaces of different widths in each vertical segment. I hope I explained myself...

Blue Baby quilt

Some weeks ago I said goodbye to this quilt, when I handed over to his owner, my nephew, Javier, for his one year birthday. While thinking about a possible present I decided that the best one would be something made by myself. This quilt was the result. The fabrics are from the Breeze collection, in blue tones and children's pattern.
Unfortunately the pictures are not the best ones. Considering the delay I already had I could not afford waiting for the appropriate camera and the best light. To give you some details, I quilted it in concentric rectangles, using light blue thread, which gives a very interesting texture and contrast, specially at the back. The final touch is provided by the label, which I stamped using a handmade stamp and textile paint.
