I got it!

I love those days when the postman rings on my door bringing one or more packages for me, specially when the delivery is full of nice fabrics, like this one!


I got a bit more than 2 yards, which should be around 2 meters, more or less. I believe they are the last ones all over the world as this pattern has been discontinued. Maybe that's an overstatement but I feel like they were. It is now my little treasure, waiting to be used in some clutches and bags.... till supply last!
So, you know, if anyone is interested, let me know.

Me encantan los días en los que el cartero llega con algún que otro paquete para mí, sobre todo cuando el contenido es una bonita tela, como ésta!


He conseguido algo más de 2 yardas, que equivalen como a unos dos metros, más o menos. Yo creo que es el último pedacito de este estampado en todo el planeta, pues ya no la fabrican más. Quizá esté exagerando pero yo me siento como si lo fuese. Es mi pequeño tesoro, esperando a ser usado en unos clutches y bolsos... hasta que se termine!
Así que, ya sabéis, si alguien está interesado, decídmelo.

Recycling fabric scraps: brooches

I have made this brooch using tiny little scraps. Just a few straps, twisted till they start curling, creating this flower-type forms.

I mixed scraps from the asian print used in one of the clutches that I showed in the previous post. Some scraps from the focus fabric as well as some scraps from the lining. Four or five straps were enough to create this one, which has a kind of a cloud form.

Once I had the little curly pieces I put them together and sewn to a brooch pin. So, here it is, a fabric brooch which is, for sure, one of a kind. There won't be another one like this. No matter how many you make they will always be different.

Hace poco hice este broche, usando trocitos muy pequeños de tela. Solamente necesité unas cuantas tiras, que retorcí muchas veces hasta que se rizaron sobre sí mismas, formando una especie de bolitas o flores.

He mezclado las telas que usé en uno de los bolsos de mano que os enseñé en el post anterior, tanto el estampado asiático del exterior como unos pedacitos rojos del forro. Cuatro o cinco tiras han sido suficientes para hacer este broche, que tiene forma de nube. Al menos a mí me recuerda a una nube.

Una vez que tuve las diferentes piezas, probé diferentes posiciones hasta que encontré la que me gustaba, las uní entre sí con unas puntadas y, finalmente, las cosí a un alfiler de broche. Y éste ha sido el resultado que, sin duda, es único. Seguro que no hay dos iguales. Incluso si usas las mismas telas de nuevo siempre quedarán diferentes.

These are the prints selected for the next bags. They have been pre-washed, ironed and are just waiting to be cut and sewn. More denim plus a new design I have in mind... surprise, surprise!

Ahora mismo mi mesa está llena de tela. Telas, telas y más telas, es lo que puedes encontrar.

Estas son las que he seleccionado para los siguientes bolsos que voy a hacer. Ya está lavadas, planchadas y listas para ser cortadas y cosidas. Más vaquero y un nuevo diseño que tengo en mente... sorpresa, sorpresa!!

Fabric addiction

My last order of fabric arrived a couple of days ago. I should better say "one of my last orders", since I have placed several ones during the last weeks. Somebody at home starts getting worried about my addiction to fabric... I am building a quite big stash of fabric. But, as I always say whenever a new parcel arrives, sooner or later I will use everything. I swear I will!
Well, talking about the last delivery, this is part of it:

A beautiful selection of asian prints, some of them made in Japan, which I will transform into a collection of bags. Now I need to find the right lining (I have some ideas in mind already) and, even more important, I need to have the time to make them... I wish the day had more hours...

Mi último pedido de telas llegó hace un par de días. Quizá sería más exacto decir "uno de mis últimos pedidos", ya que llevo unos cuantos en las últimas semanas. De hecho, alguien en casa se está empezando a preocupar por mi adicción a las telas... Estoy atesorando una cantidad considerable, la verdad. Pero, como siempre digo cuando llega algún pedido, tarde o temprano usaré todo. Lo prometo!
En fín, volviendo al pedido en cuestión. Esta una parte.
Una preciosa selección de estampados asiáticos, algunos hechos en Japón, que voy a convertir en una colección de bolsos. Ahora solamente me queda elegir los forros adecuados (ya tengo algunas ideas en mente) y, lo que es incluso más importante, necesito tener el tiempo para hacerlos... Ojalá el día tuviera más horas...
