Ready to go

The first set of advent houses is already finished! This calendar will travel to the States. Twenty four nice little houses flying over the ocean to reach their home, on time for Christmas. Have a nice journey!

El primer conjunto de casitas de Adviento ya está terminado! Este calendario en concreto va a viajar a Estados Unidos. Veinticuatro preciosas casitas que cruzarán el océano para llegar a su nuevo hogar, a tiempo para Navidad. Buen viaje!

My new atelier

Not so long time ago I published some pictures of my sewing corner. Well, I've moved again! to a much, much better place.

Now I have my own room, my own space for all my stuff, sewing machine, fabrics, computer... everything is at hand and I am so, so happy!!

There is a room in our house which was never used for its original purpose so it ended up as the storage room. This summer I thought I could give it a better use and, here we are, my brand new atelier is already settled.

The only problem with this room was the light. There was just a tiny little window. As we are now used to renovation we did not think it twice and open a hole in one of the walls to mount a door. Now you cannot notice that the door was not there before.

As I said, I have everything in here now. The cutting and sewing table is in the middle. You can see now some work in progress on the table, hundred little houses to be part of a couple of Advent calendars.

On one side of the room we mounted the storage system. This is where all the fabric will be stored. I say "will" because this part is pending, the fabric is still distributed around the house. I need to do something about it now and start putting everything in place! (I think I have said this already...)

And, on the other side, I have another table with the computer, some drawers and a small ironing board, which I can tell you is really useful.

Hace no mucho tiempo que publiqué unas fotos de mi rincón de costura. Pues como no puedo parar quieta me he vuelto a mudar. Pero esta vez a un sitio mucho, muchísimo mejor, todo un señor taller.

Ahora tengo mi propia habitación, nada de compartir espacio con juguetes, tele y demás cachivaches. Así puedo tener todas mis cosas en un mismo lugar, máquina de coser, telas, ordenador... con espacio suficiente y todo muy a mano. Estoy requetecontenta con mi taller!

Y cómo no se me había ocurrido antes? Pues no lo sé. Esta habitación nunca la habíamos llegado a usar para su propósito inicial y había acabado siendo el trastero. Este verano, yo creo que por la falta de espacio en mi anterior rincón, se me ocurrió que le podíamos dar un mejor uso. Y así fue como montamos mi precioso atelier.

El único problema era la falta de luz pues solamente tenía una ventana minúscula. Pero como estamos más que acostumbrados a las obras y al DIY no nos lo pensamos dos veces y abrimos un hueco en una de las paredes para montar una puerta. Ahora ni notas que esa puerta no estaba antes ahí. Así tengo luz suficiente y ventilación. Además es el sitio más fresquito de la casa en verano :)

Como decía, ahora tengo todo en un solo sitio y bien colocado. La mesa de trabajo, con la tabla de corte y la máquina de coser la he puesto centrada. En las fotos la podéis ver invadida por un montón de casitas, que serán parte de unos calendarios de Adviento.

A un lado de la habitación, a espaldas de la máquina, hemos montado unas estanterías y muebles de almacenamiento, donde irán todas las telas. Digo "irán" porque esa parte la tengo pendiente. Aún tengo desperdigadas las telas por diferentes sitios de la casa. Tengo que ponerme a ordenarlas ya! (creo que esto lo he dicho ya varias veces.... a ver si lo cumplo)

Y, finalmente, en el otro lado es donde he montado la mesa del ordenador, junto con unas cajoneras. También me he hecho con una mini tabla de plancha, que me resulta comodísima.

Los fans de Ikea podréis reconocer muchas de sus cosas, verdad?

Playing with scraps

As the title says I've been playing with some fabric scraps. Little pieces of japanese fabric combined with felt to create a different key ring. A white-cream flower in one side, grey ones in the opposite.

I have included this one as a small surprise in one of the recents orders I received. I hope the receiver will like it!

Como dice el título he estado jugueteando con retales. Pequeños trocitos de tela japonesa combinados con fieltro para dar forma a un llavero diferente y original. Una flor de color blanco-crema en un lado, unas de color gris por el otro.


Este llavero en concreto lo he incluído como pequeño detalle en uno de los últimos pedidos que he recibido. Espero que le guste a su destinataria!

The Japanese version of my denim messenger

I had to do it! And, of course, I had to show it! :)
Using the design of my denim messenger, just changing the fabrics selection I got this nice bag. Same messenger style with a completely different flavor.

Instead of denim I used a brushed cotton canvas, very soft but strong and durable at the same time. I love the color combination, a subtle beige with a beautiful japanese fabric in black and pearl colors.

As in the original design, the strap is long enough to carry it as a cross shoulder bag. However, if you prefer a shorter version, you just need to change the swivel hook and voilá!, a completely different style.

Tenía que hacerlo! Y, por supuesto, tenía que enseñarlo después! :)
Usando el mismo diseño que el de mi denim messenger, pero con una selección de telas diferente he hecho este otro bolso. Tiene el mismo estilo messenger pero con un toque totalmente distinto.

En lugar de la tela vaquera he elegido una loneta cepillada, que ya he usado en otras ocasiones en otros tonos, muy suave pero fuerte y duradera al mismo tiempo. Me encanta la combinación de colores, un sútil beige con un precioso estampado de tela japonesa en blanco y gris perla.


Como en el diseño original, el asa es lo suficientemente larga para usarlo como bandolera. Pero si prefieres un asa más corta, no tienes más que cambiar el mosquetón de lado y, voilá!, consigues un estilo totalmente distinto, para llevar al hombro.
