Bye bye summer

Although the season as such is not over yet I always feel that summer is coming to an end when the school starts. And this moment is almost here...

We are slowly going back to the usual routine. We say goodbye to those days with no calendar, no time schedule, no alarm clock...

Aunque la estación en sí aún no haya terminado siempre asocio la vuelta al cole con el final del verano. Y ya no queda casi nada...


Poco a poco vamos volviendo a la rutina. Atrás quedan los días sin horarios, sin prisas, sin despertador...

Something different

I started the weekend making something completely different to my usual creations. It is not a bag, neither a  pouch nor a wallet. It is a bunny, a very sweet bunny, cuddly and soft.

I had this idea in mind for quite some time but never put it into practice. Yesterday evening I finally did it!

This one will be for my daughter (she does not know yet... ). Let's say that she will be running the testing phase. Even though she is not a baby (that period was over some years ago already, time flies...) she will love it and, for sure, the bunny will be hugged hundred times, stretched another hundred times, stepped on, etc, etc... enough to check if the bunny survives a kid.
Have you seen those IKEA cabinets where a drawer is open an closed, open and closed... thousand times? Something similar ;)

He empezado el fin de semana haciendo algo totalmente distinto a lo que suelo hacer. No es un bolso, ni un neceser, ni tampoco un monedero. Es un conejo, un dulce conejito, muy achuchable y blandito.

Llevaba ya tiempo con ganas de hacer un muñeco de este estilo pero nunca me había llegado a poner en serio con ello. Y ayer por la noche lo hice!

Este se lo voy a regalar a mi hija (no lo sabe todavía...). Digamos que ella va a ser la que se encargue de la fase de pruebas y el control de calidad. Aunque ya no es un bebé (hace ya unos años que dejó de serlo, cómo pasa el tiempo...), seguro que le encanta y, segurísimo, que le abrazará y achuchará cien veces, estirará y maltratará otras tantas, lo pisará , etc, etc... lo suficiente para ver si el conejito es capaz de sobrevivir a un niño.
Habéis visto en IKEA esas vitrinas donde muestran las pruebas de resistencia de sus productos, con un cajón abriendo y cerrando, abriendo y cerrando permanentemente? Pues algo parecido ;)

Little rose

This is my last little creation, a tiny rose brooch. It is made from some scraps of a very nice japanese fabric, one of the fabrics reserved for curvy clutches which, unfortunately, is already finished. I have just made the last clutch with this fabric, no more left... :(

This brooch can be used together with the clutch, to embellish the flap. Or, you can use it on its own, on a a jacket, pullover, dress... wherever you want.

Esta es la última de mis pequeñas creaciones, un mini broche. Lo he hecho con restos de una tela japonesa preciosa, que tengo reservada para mis curvy clutches y que, lamentablemente, ya se me ha acabado. Acabo de terminar el último clutch en esta tela, no me queda para más... :(

Este broche se puede usar bien con el bolso, adornando la solapa, o bien en una chaqueta, vestido, jersey... donde se quiera.

Asian green

I started working on this bag months ago, right after I finished this other. I designed it, selected the fabrics, measured, cut the pieces and.... that was all! I left it apart and completely forgot about it.
I must admit that I have the bad habit of starting several things in parallel, which, at the end, results in having many incomplete projects. I know I should change that and focus on one thing at a time...

But let's be positive and look at the good side of the story. Sooner or later I always finish all projects. For some of them it takes weeks, for some other months, for the rest.... ups, in some cases more than one year... ;)

Going back to this bag in particular, it was hidden somewhere in the pile of ongoing things and I discovered it while re-arranging my sewing corner... again! (more details and pics on this one later, it deserves a dedicated post!)

This bag is similar to the Asian umbrellas. Same design with a front pocket in a japanese print. Made from brushed cotton canvas... They differ in the shape, basically. This one is more vertical than the other and it is flat, with round corners. Well, the color and prints are different also.

And, what can I say? I love it!

Este bolso lo empecé hace ya meses, justo después de acabar este otro. Lo diseñé, elegí las telas, medí, corté las piezas y.... eso fue todo! Lo dejé apartado y acabé olvidándome de él.

Tengo que reconocer que tengo la mala costumbre de empezar varias cosas en paralelo, que resulta en tener un montón de proyectos sin acabar. Sé que debería cambiar esta manía pero es difícil...

Bueno, vamos a ver la parte positiva de todo este asunto. Lo bueno es que, tarde o temprano, siempre acabo los proyectos. Algunos después de unas semanas, otros después de unos meses y el resto, bueno...., alguno hasta más de un año...

Volviendo al bolso en cuestión, estaba escondido entre varias otras cosas sin terminar y lo he descubierto hace unos días mientras re-organizaba mi rincón de costura... otra vez! Os mostraré más detalles y fotos más adelante, merece un post aparte!

Este bolso es similar al Asian umbrellas. El mismo diseño, con un bolsillo frontal de estampado japonés. También está hecho con una loneta cepillada, muy suavecita, aunque en un color diferente. Este es verde claro. Cambia también la forma. Este es más vertical y es plano, con las esquinas redondeadas. El asa es lo suficientemente larga para poder llevarlo en bandolera, que resulta muy cómodo cuando tienes la sensación de que no te quedan manos suficientes...

Y qué voy a decir yo? A mí me encanta!

Autumn linen pouches

Even though it is still very hot in Madrid (really hot during the last days) I am already thinking about Autumn. Summer will be over quite soon, the kids will go back to school again and we'll be entering the next season slowly.

That is maybe the reason why I have chosen cold and wintry colors for the last linen pouches I've been working on.

All of them are very neutral so they are suitable for both women and men, because men also need a pouch from time to time, don't they?

Aunque todavía hace bastante calor en Madrid (muuucho calor estos últimos días) no puedo evitar pensar ya en el otoño. El verano se acaba dentro de nada, los niños vuelven al cole en poco más de una semana y estaremos entrando en la siguiente estación del año poco a poco.


Quizá esa es la razón por la que he elegido colores fríos e invernales para los últimos neceseres de lino en los que he estado trabajando.

Todos estos neceseres son muy neutros, tanto en el estampado como en los colores, así que valen tanto para hombre como para mujer, son unisex, porque los hombres también necesitan un neceser de vez en cuando, no?

I am taking the risk of boring you with so many houses. I like them so much that I cannot stop making them.

To do something a little bit different this time these houses are not wallets. They are much smaller, tiny little houses, which will be part of a nice mobile. I am now preparing the hanging part or, maybe, I should better say thinking about the best way to do it.

I hope to be ready soon and publish some photos of the result.

Me arriesgo a que os aburráis con tanta casita, vaya empacho! Pero me gustan tanto que no puedo parar de hacerlas.


Para variar un poco esta vez les he dado otro enfoque. No son monederos. Son mucho más pequeñas, mini casitas, que serán parte de un móvil muy chulo. Ahora estoy preparando (bueno, pensando en la mejor manera de hacerlo) la parte para colgar.
Espero tenerlo listo pronto y publicar unas fotos con el resultado final.
