What's coming?

Here it is a sneak peak of the last fabric combination I am working with. The bag is not finished yet, I still need to add the magnetic snap and the strap, but it will be ready very soon.

It combines a japanese print with a brushed cotton canvas in a grey-brownish tone. One of those colors which is difficult to classify and generate debates, is it brown?, is it grey? Either way, there is no doubt it is a wintery color.

This time there will be an improvement, the strap will be adjustable. Since we are not all the same size I thought it would be nice to have the possibility of adjusting the length of the strap. That way you can carry the bag as cross shoulder or make it shorter if you wish.

ECOBAG pattern

As promised, here you have the ECOBAG tutorial that I prepared for the workshop in Hecho Por Mi. I tried to summarize the required steps and include all instructions in the same page so that it can be used as a quick guide when creating an Ecobag. I hope it is useful!

Of course, if you find any error, which might be possible ;), please let me know!

ECOBAG tutorial

A new friend in our garden

This is what we discovered after mowing the lawn on Sunday. A nice and big toad. Most probably he was preparing for winter and had already carved a hole, where he was protected with the grass. Unfortunately, after cutting it this place was not safe anymore and he soon moved. I can imagine he was quite upset and scared at the same time.

Thanks!

Hecho Por Mi was celebrated yesterday. A day full of creativity, with workshops and seminars all about the DIY movement.
I was there and enjoyed a lot the experience of teaching others the way to create your own Ecobag. We had fun!! A group of ten nice people, with the only aim of expending a nice time together, creating something.
Time flew and the two programmed hours were not enough to finish the bag completely so there is some homework to be done now by the participants. As I said yesterday I am fully available to answer questions. You can contact me anytime.
A big THANK YOU for being so nice and make me forget it was my first workshop. You made it easy!

I liked it that much that I would like to be involved in more workshops. I hope there are more opportunities in the future. I need to think about different possibilities...

It was also great to meet people in person. People I know from other blogs, people who follow my blog, or people involved in this DIY movement somehow. It was nice to meet you, really!
It was a pity that there was no room for everybody and some people could not join the workshop. There needs to be a next time!

PS: As soon as I have some time I will publish the tutorial I prepared for the workshop. I hope to get some pictures also...

I got it!

I love those days when the postman rings on my door bringing one or more packages for me, specially when the delivery is full of nice fabrics, like this one!

I got a bit more than 2 yards, which should be around 2 meters, more or less. I believe they are the last ones all over the world as this pattern has been discontinued. Maybe that's an overstatement but I feel like they were. It is now my little treasure, waiting to be used in some clutches and bags.... till supply last!
So, you know, if anyone is interested, let me know.

Ready to go

The first set of advent houses is already finished! This calendar will travel to the States. Twenty four nice little houses flying over the ocean to reach their home, on time for Christmas. Have a nice journey!

Buen viaje!

My new atelier

Not so long time ago I published some pictures of my sewing corner. Well, I've moved again! to a much, much better place.
Now I have my own room, my own space for all my stuff, sewing machine, fabrics, computer... everything is at hand and I am so, so happy!!

There is a room in our house which was never used for its original purpose so it ended up as the storage room. This summer I thought I could give it a better use and, here we are, my brand new atelier is already settled.
The only problem with this room was the light. There was just a tiny little window. As we are now used to renovation we did not think it twice and open a hole in one of the walls to mount a door. Now you cannot notice that the door was not there before.

As I said, I have everything in here now. The cutting and sewing table is in the middle. You can see now some work in progress on the table, hundred little houses to be part of a couple of Advent calendars.

On one side of the room we mounted the storage system. This is where all the fabric will be stored. I say "will" because this part is pending, the fabric is still distributed around the house. I need to do something about it now and start putting everything in place! (I think I have said this already...)

And, on the other side, I have another table with the computer, some drawers and a small ironing board, which I can tell you is really useful.

Pues como no puedo parar quieta me he vuelto a mudar.

Playing with scraps

As the title says I've been playing with some fabric scraps. Little pieces of japanese fabric combined with felt to create a different key ring. A white-cream flower in one side, grey ones in the opposite.

I have included this one as a small surprise in one of the recents orders I received. I hope the receiver will like it!

The Japanese version of my denim messenger

I had to do it! And, of course, I had to show it! :)
Using the design of my denim messenger, just changing the fabrics selection I got this nice bag. Same messenger style with a completely different flavor.

Instead of denim I used a brushed cotton canvas, very soft but strong and durable at the same time. I love the color combination, a subtle beige with a beautiful japanese fabric in black and pearl colors.

As in the original design, the strap is long enough to carry it as a cross shoulder bag. However, if you prefer a shorter version, you just need to change the swivel hook and voilá!, a completely different style.

Tenía que hacerlo! Y, por supuesto, tenía que enseñarlo después! :)
