I love your suggestions

Pues sí, me encantan vuestras sugerencias y peticiones. Porque a veces suponen un reto, pues se trata de cosas que nunca he hecho antes, y me hace darle unas vueltas, pensar en cómo hacerlo, cómo quedará de esta u otra manera. Y también porque en otras ocasiones me permite descubrir combinaciones que no se me habían ocurrido.

Es el caso de esta bandolera. Una combinación de las telas de un modelo de bolso, el denim messenger, en la forma de otro de mis modelos, la bandolera de loneta. Me gusta tanto como ha quedado que ya forma parte de los básicos de Marabara.

As the title says, yes, I love your suggestions and orders. Because sometimes they force me to leave my comfort zone and makes me think how to create certain products, what's the best way to do it, how to enhance the design... And also because in some other cases it allows me to discover new combinations, which I never thought about before.

This messenger bag is one of those requests. A combination of the fabrics from one of my bags, the denim messenger, in the shape of another one, the canvas messenger. I am so happy with the result that it is already part of Marabara's basic designs. I love it!

Free style patchwork

Hay veces que apetece hacer algo diferente. Es lo que me ha pasado esta mañana. He dejado de lado bolsos y monederos y me he zambullido en el montón de los retales. Y así, improvisando, cogiendo un pedacito de color azul, otro de rayas, algún lila... he ido dando forma a este posavasos. Sin reglas ni medidas, según iba saliendo, totalmente "free style". El caso es que ha resultado ser cuadrado, pura casualidad.

Seguro que repito y hago más, porque me ha encantado el resultado.

Sometimes you feel like doing something different. That's what happened to me this morning. I left apart the bags and wallets and literally dived into the scraps bag. That way, improvising, taking one piece of blue print, some purple, a little striped scrap... I made this coaster. Without rulers and measurements, totally free style. The funny thing is that it ended up being square, pure coincidence.

For sure I will repeat and make some more cause I love it!

The last post of 2012

No hay mejor manera de acabar el año y empezar uno nuevo que haciendo lo que más te gusta. Después de unas cuantas semanas de mucho, muchísimo trabajo, he vuelto a retomar los diseños que empecé allá por el mes de... Septiembre? Seguían ahí, esperando pacientemente en el cuaderno, y ha sido un placer volver a trabajar en ellos. Tenía muchas ganas de ver cada diseño pasar del papel a la realidad. Ya tengo el primero de los modelos, los demás llegarán también, segurísimo. Es una cuestión de tiempo.

Por el momento, os dejo con el avance de lo que será esta colección. Una colección de bolsos prácticos y funcionales, inspirados en el patchwork y los estampados japoneses, esos que tanto me gustan. Combinando diferentes materiales y texturas, como la loneta, la pana...

Hasta ahora no me había animado a hacer bolsos grandes y ya tocaba. Este que os enseño es grandote. Ideal para quien necesita espacio y llevar muchas cosas. Con asas regulables para poderlo llevar más o menos largo, según el gusto de cada cual.

There is no better way to end this year and start the new one than working on your favorite activity. After a few very busy weeks, working like crazy, I had the chance to continue working on the designs that I started back in... September? They were waiting for me and it's been a pleasure to restart this project again. I was really looking forward to see the drawings become a reality. The first one is now ready, the next ones will come, for sure. It is just a matter of time.

For the moment, I can show you a sneak peek of the collection. Inspired in the patchwork world and the japanese prints which I love so much. It is a collection of very functional bags, combining different materials and textures, like cotton canvas, corduroy...

So far I had not make so many big bags and it was time for them. This one that I am showing today is a maxi bag, ideal for the ones who need to carry a lot of things on their daily activities. It has adjustable straps so you can wear it longer or shorter, depending on your needs or taste.

Pop-up card

Ahora que la mayoría de pedidos ya han llegado a su destino os puedo enseñar la tarjeta de felicitación que incluí en uno de ellos. No era un regalo de Navidad, sino de cumpleaños, por lo que me pareció una buena idea el hacer una tarjeta un tanto especial. Había visto unas cuantas tarjetas desplegables por la red, principalmente en Pinterest (qué gran fuente de inspiración!), así que me animé a intentarlo.

Cómo no, tenía que llevar una casita :), que junto con un árbol y una pequeña nube completaron la escena perfecta. La casita la hice con mini retales, pegados sobre cartulina. Y quedó de lo más mono, no os parece?

Now that most of the orders have reached their destinations I can show you the greeting card that goes with one of them. It wasn't a Christmas present but a birthday one so I thought it would be nice to include a special card. I've seen different pop-up cards in the internet, mainly in Pinteres (what a great source of inspiration!) so I decided to give it a try.

Obviously a little house had to be there, which, together with a tree and a tiny cloud, were the perfect scenario. The little house is made of very tiny fabric scraps, glued on cardboard. I think the result is pretty nice, don't you think so?

Winter days

Yo soy más de verano, seguro que lo he repetido ya más de una vez por aquí. Y es que soy friolera por naturaleza, y acabo pareciendo una cebolla de tanta capa que me pongo para no pelarme de frío. En definitiva, que prefiero mil veces el calor antes que el frío. Os podéis imaginar la envidia que me dan los canarios, con su eterna primavera. Firmaría ahora mismo por tener siempre esa temperatura.

Pero como no es posible, no queda más remedio que buscarle el lado positivo al fresquete, que también lo tiene. No puedo negar que el invierno tiene su encanto, por muy poco que me guste. Sobre todo esos días en que encendemos la chimenea desde primera hora y el olor a leña quemada se va distribuyendo por toda la casa. Como este mes es de bastante jaleo en el taller, y no paro ni un minuto, aprovecho para hacer los remates y algunas cosas pequeñas en el sofá, delante del fuego.

A finales de Noviembre (léase dia 30) colgamos nuestro calendario de Adviento, que ya está a puntito de llegar a su último día, cómo pasa el tiempo! Lo hemos colocado en su lugar habitual, la cocina, que es donde más lo vemos y donde más destaca. También hemos ido decorando un poco la casa, no mucho esta vez, que luego da pereza quitarlo todo.

Y así, como quien no quiere la cosa, el mes de Diciembre ya está llegando a su fin, y yo sin enterarme. Que disfrutéis de estos placeres del invierno!

I am more a summer person, for sure I have mentioned it several times. Mainly because I am quite sensitive to the cold weather, and I end up wearing several layers of cloths to avoid being freezing all the time. So, definitely I prefer summer.

Anyhow, since this is something you cannot influence I try to find the positive side of this time of the year. I need to admit also that winter has some nice things. During these last weeks I am quite busy in my atelier, working on the Christmas orders, so I leave the small things to work in front of the fireplace, finishing wallets, embroidering...

At the end of November (right on the very last day) we mounted the Advent calendar. As always, it is in the kitchen, because this is where it looks prettier and where we can enjoy it more. We have also added some Christmas decoration. Not so much this time, some lights here and there.

And now I realize that December is almost over, without even noticing it. I hope you enjoy also the winter pleasures!

New Tote bag design

Desde hace muy poco tenemos un nuevo punto de venta, en Ceuta. Es la tienda de Eva, Eva Delgado Tocados y Complementos, donde aterrizaron mis bolsos, monederos y joyeros hace algunos días, con muy buena acogida además.

Aparte de bolsos vaqueros, bolsos casita y unas cosas más, Eva me pidió que le enviase bolsos grandecitos. Le envié una propuesta, que ha dado lugar a una versión del bolso Tote City. La forma es la misma, pero cambia el tejido y el estampado. Este nuevo modelo combina loneta cepillada, ésa que tanto me gusta a mi por su tacto y sus colores, y un estampado japonés.

No sé cuántas combinaciones diferentes he llegado a tener sobre la mesa, la mayoría de las cuales saldrán en algún momento. Pero he querido empezar la serie con una en particular. Una muy buena amiga llevaba tiempo sugiriéndome que idease un bolso donde la tela Kyoto Red pudiese lucir en todo su esplendor. Así que, Cris, este bolso está inspirado en esa idea tuya. Va por ti! :)

Este bolso tiene un interior de lujo, con una tela de estampado muy sutil, en tonos crema. Dos bolsillos, uno simple y otro con cremallera y esta vez también le he añadido un cierre de imán.

We have a brand new sales point, located in Ceuta, Eva Delgado Tocados y Complementos, where quite a few handbags, wallets and jewelry rolls arrived a few days ago. It was a complete success so I am very, very happy about it!

Apart from some denim messenger, little houses bags and a few more things, Eva asked me to send some bigger bags. I made a proposal, which is now a new version of the Tote City bag. It has the same shape but the fabric and prints are different. This new bag combines a brushed cotton canvas and a japanese print.

You cannot imagine how many combinations I had on my table. Most of them will become a reality in a near future. But I wanted to start with a specific one. A very good friend has been suggesting me for a long time to create a bag using the Kyoto Red print. So, Cris, here it goes!

For the interior I chose a very nice cotton fabric, with a lovely print. It has two pockets and I also added a magnetic closure this time.
